How to CLEP College

How on earth do you CLEP college?

Well, that's kind of a trick question. You can CLEP out - aka test out - of college classes, but not usually enough to fulfill an entire degree. There are only a few accredited schools like Excelsior and Thomas Edision that allow you to get more than the 30 credits that most schools will allow you to test out of.

Does that make sense to you? Or do you need more basics? If so, check out our New Student Center that can explain all this and more to you.

CLEP Questions to Review and Help Study

Where are some CLEP Questions that I can use to review and will help me study?

Each study guide from PassYourClass includes sample test questions that you can use to test your knowledge. Test questions that you get wrong should be studied thoroughly as these are sometimes areas on the test that you will need extra help on.

A good way to study is to use the flashcards and drill with them until you know all the important concepts. One of the best ways to study is to be able to open up anywhere in the book and explain the concept on that page.

Another to practice the material is to teach it to someone else. This will help you cement the material in your brain as well as give you a good gauge to know if you are ready to take the test.

Don't forget that we guarantee you pass your test or your money back!

Can you take the Spanish 201 and 202 CLEP by itself?

The Spanish (and all foreign language) CLEP test works like this:

You study.

You take the test.

You pass.

Based on your score, you either get 6 credits or 12 credits, depending on your school's policy. The ACE recommended scores for Spanish are:

Score 50-62 and you get 6 credit hours

Score 63+ and you get 12 credit hours

That's LOT of credit for only one test so it's worth your time to put a little extra study into it.

Information Systems and Computer Applications Free CLEP

The Information Systems and Computer Applications test isn't the hardest one out there. In fact, it's relatively easy.

It has 100 test questions to be answered in 90 minutes.

You can read some sample CLEP test questions here but you will save a lot of time if you order the study guide to get started.

The best part of the study guide is we've done the work for you. All you have to do is sit and read and study. No searching online for information and reading through pages and pages of material which may or may not be on the test. Worst of all, you get sidetracked and don't get much studying done.

Actually, the best part is that we guarantee that you'll pass your CLEP or DANTES test, or we will refund the cost of the study guide. We have over a 99% pass rate so what do you have to lose?

CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature

CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature - how hard is this test and what do I need to do to pass it?

Actually, this is what we think is one of the easiest tests to take. Why? There is almost no memorization. You don't have to read and memorize parts of Shakespeare or long poems. What do you do? You read a short excerpt or a poem and answer questions about it. It is pretty straightforward. The main thing you have to have is....confidence and of course our CLEP study guide would help too.

You need practice reading and "explaining" literature in literature terms. If alliteration and verse sound scary, they are really not. You'll only need to memorize about 20 different terms, compare that to a heavy Biology exam and you're halfway there.

We will give you practice and make you feel completely comfortable in passing this test. Many students take this test first to build their confidence and then take another, and another, etc. CLEP testing can be addicting. We're happy to help show you how, or at least give you a few CLEP test questions for free.

What is the letter grade equivalent for DSST exams?

How does a DSST exam score equal out to a letter grade?

Well, it really depends on your school. If you took the Introduction to World Religions DANTES test and got a 400 - at most schools you would be getting a C. 426 would get you a B.

Older tests such as Human Resource Management have these thresholds:
54 - A
53 - B
46-52 C

These score thresholds should be listed on your schools DSST credit website or available on a sheet from your counselor. However, most schools DO NOT award credit this way. A big exception is Excelsior College.

Your 400 at Excelsior College for the World Religions test will get you a pass/fail period.

The HR Management test will give you a different scoring than above:

55 - A
50 - B
46 - C

The moral of the story? Schools can choose any way that they want to award the credit and you should find out that in advance so you can make the proper plans.

Can a student who took Freshman comp take the English CLEP?

Can a student who took Freshman comp take the English CLEP?

To give you a complete answer, we'll have to clear some things up.

Freshman composition doesn't exist anymore. It is no longer offered as a test that you can take. English Composition and Freshman Composition were retired and replaced with College Composition and College Composition Modular.

So if you took the older tests, yes, you can take the newer tests as well.

The only issue is that you may have all the credit that you need in that subject. Some schools will only allow you to take so many tests in a certain area. Always check with your adviser before you start studying for a CLEP test.

What does CLEP stand for?

CLEP What does it stand for? It should stand for:

Cool
Learning
Excellence
Program

But it doesn't. It stands for:

College Level Examination Program

It is what it says it is - an advanced, college level testing program that shows you and your school that you already know the information covered in a college class so you should be allowed to skip it and still receive the college credit. It's a great idea and a great program!

How Spanish CLEP exams are scored

How are Spanish CLEP exams scored?

It's pretty straightforward. This CLEP test is entirely done by multiple choice. So you will key in your answers to the computer as you proceed with the test and like any test without an essay, you will receive your score print out at the end.

However, what makes this test different is that the test includes different parts, listening and reading.

There are two listening sections and one reading section.

For example, in one section you will hear a conversation in Spanish. You will then hear four responses/
answer choices, A, B, C, and D. After those four answer choices are spoken, you will have to enter the correct answer. You will only hear the answer once.

You have 90 minutes to complete the test of 120 questions. Each school sets their own score, but the ACE recommended scores are 50 and 63. If you score between 50-62 you will receive six credit hours.

You can find this and all of our 58 CLEP and DANTES study guides on our site.

How to CLEP college

How to CLEP college?

Well, that's a big question with a long complicated answer. We tell you the long version of how to CLEP college on our FAQ Page.

But the short answer is pretty easy. First, find out if your school accepts credit and if you need the type of credit that you can test out of. It doesn't make sense to study for the College Algebra CLEP if you only need Biology credit.

Choose your test and purchase your study guide - hopefully one of ours with a money back guarantee!

STUDY!

Take the test - when you've passed you'll have scored 3-6 college credits. That's a lot easier than sitting in a class all semester. Taking a CLEP test is a lot easier than you think. It just takes some time and determination. Once you pass your first test, you'll feel confident and want to take another and another. It's great to save so much time and money.

Can you test out of an entire degree? At an accredited school, that's unlikely. Some online schools will let you test out of 30 credit hours, but that seems to be on the higher end of the scale. Your local state college or community college may limit you to 15 credit hours of credit earned through testing. But that's still saving a semester or more in time and tuition.

How long does it take to be charged for taking a CLEP test?

How long does it take to be charged for taking a CLEP test?

You are charged a testing center fee (separately - usually $15) and a testing fee at the time of your test. You cannot take the test without first paying the fee.

Do you mean how long does it take to get the credit? The credit is posted to a CLEP transcript immediately. You will receive a CLEP score report at the end of the test which will have your score. Depending on your school's policy, you may be awarded credit instantly (if you take the test at your school) or they may want you to send for a CLEP transcript, which like all things in academia, takes a few weeks to get back and is sent directly to the school. If you need one last test for graduation, make sure you know in advance how this works so you will be sure to not have any problems or issues.

Is the College Algebra CLEP harder than the College Math CLEP?

Is the College Algebra CLEP harder than the College Math CLEP?

In our opinion, the College Mathematics CLEP is easier than the College Algebra CLEP.

The College Math CLEP seems to have items that are easier to understand for "non math" people. If you were a math person, you probably wouldn't be asking this question. :) When adults returning to school hear the words "graphic quadratic equations" chills run up their spine. Geometry (which is on the math test) seems easier to handle. However, we have all the CLEP math titles, including Precalculus and Calculus for those math people that need a brush up.

What college class does DANTES Here's To Your Health allow you to test out of?

What college class does DANTES Here's To Your Health allow you to test out of?

Well the short answer is, it depends.

What it depends on his how your school awards credit for tests. Some schools allow you to get "science" credit or "math" credit, accepting most things into broad categories. Other schools are more specific, such as Here's To Your Health counts for HTLH 2010, etc.

So first you need to do some digging online to find out the answer or call your academic adviser for help. Then, need to start studying! You can find the Here's To Your Health study guide on our site here.

How much time can be eliminated with CLEP?

How much time can be eliminated with CLEP?

Guessing that you are talking about how much time in class can you save with CLEP, here are some great statistics. To pass ONE 3 credit hour class you can save up to:

20 hours of class time = 1200 minutes

or

3-4 months MWF

or

Five weeks towards your degree (at UOP)

*****

That's just for one class. Most students once they take their first CLEP test become addicted to saving time and money so they try to then "CLEP out" of as many credits and classes as possible. You can also take DANTES tests. These work the same way as a CLEP test. You take the test, you pass, you get college credit. If you need more information about how this works, visit our New Student Center for more information.

How many questions are on the world religions exam for DANTES?

How many questions are on the world religions exam for DANTES?

Well, this seems pretty straightforward. If you go to our page for the Introduction to World Religions DANTES test it's easy to see that this test has only 108 questions.

You can take some time to read some testimonials of other students there are well.
